JOHN KUDOS

John Kudos is principal of Studio Kudos, a multidisciplinary design studio founded in NYC Spring of 2008. He spent his childhood in Bandung, Indonesia, and moved to the United States to study and pursue a career in graphic design in 1997. John holds a BFA in Graphic Design with Digital Media Concentration from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore (2001).

Prior to founding Studio Kudos, John Kudos was a designer at Pentagram, where he managed various art, cultural and institutional projects during his seven-year tenure, including leading the website redesign for The Guggenheim Foundation and 1100 Architect. He is one of the recipients of the Art Directors Club’s Young Guns 6 in 2008 and was named an emerging design talent by STEP Inside Design magazine in 2006. He is the founder and designer of Splotches.org, an online art and culture publication that was awarded a silver medal by the Society of Publication Designers in 2005. His work has been recognized by the D&AD, Art Directors Club, Society of Publications Designers, Type Directors Club, AIGA, Graphis, Print, I.D., Communication Arts, STEP Inside Design, Black Book AR100, and the New York Book Show.

John Kudos holds a crucial role in managing client communications, providing creative and interactive solutions, and overseeing the production of print- and web-based applications. Recent projects include an E-Catalogue for Sotheby’s where he designed the online interface for browsing e-catalogues and architected CMS for managing the content. He also designed a microsite for the Joan Miró exhibition at MoMA which serves as a tool for educators, preservers, and visitors to experience the exhibition’s multimedia content in a highly customizable manner.

Recently, John pursues ways to elevate the public’s perception towards graphic design in Indonesia and hopes to bridge the differences between international and local perspectives. When not busy creating for others, John spends his free-time on self-initiated art and design projects.

Studio Kudos Profile
